The book published by the Digital Reconstruction Working Group is intended to cover digital 3D reconstruction as an aspect of interdisciplinary research in the context of over three decades of experience and the challenges of scientific 3D information modelling. The overall aim is to produce a compendium of the range of current scientific discourse on the digital, interpretative 3D reconstruction of damaged and/or unimplemented art and architecture. The book will identify traditions and lines of development, the current state of research and practice, and hopes and challenges for the future.

We invite you to contribute. Proposals in short abstract format (maximum 250 words, PDF) should be sent by email to the editor-in-chief, piotr.kuroczynski@herder-institut.de.

We are looking for the following formats:

• “Analyses of specific aspects” of digital 3D reconstruction (e.g. visualization, documentation, methodology, model aspects, scientific culture, digital research infrastructures, data modelling, etc.) from a cross-project or project-independent perspective, ideally taking into account the state of international research. Analyses will be presented in the book as individual and, as appropriate, in combined chapters.

• “Project profiles” which outline one or more project proposals related to digital 3D reconstruction and integrate these into a specialist discourse. Project profiles that are especially significant for the specialism are to be included in the book in a structured project directory in the book.

The book will be published in German as an open access and print on demand edition at the Heidelberg University Library. World wide distribution will be guaranteed by amazon.com.

A subsequent publication in English is planned (prospective in the SpringerInternational and SpringerLink series)
